Resolutions: What, Who, When, and How

What are Resolutions?

Resolutions are one of three ways in which items are submitted to the TSTC Board of Regents for consideration. Resolutions are used for citations, awards, commendations, expressions of appreciation or sympathy, and other appropriate purposes. Resolutions must be approved by the Board to go into effect.

In some cases, Resolutions are prepared using formats that are required by external entities. But they usually follow a format established by TSTC. Sample ResolutionGet Adobe Acrobat Reader.

Since a Resolution involves a Board decision, each one is assigned a minute order number by the Secretary to the Board.

Who submits Resolutions?

Resolutions may be submitted by the Chancellor, Executive Vice Chancellor, Presidents, and Board of Regents committee staff.

A President may authorize designated executive staff to submit certain documents on his/her behalf. Currently, the following are authorized to do so.

Marshall: President
Waco: President and the President’s Administrative Assistant
West Texas: President and the Chief Financial Officer

When are Resolutions submitted?
